What is a collective bargaining agreement?
A collective bargaining agreement is an agreement negotiated between worker representatives (unions) and employers that establishes the working and salary conditions applicable to a group of workers in a specific company or sector.
In other words, it is a collective contract that regulates the rights and obligations of employees and employers, covering issues such as salaries, work hours, vacations, working hours, among other important aspects.
The main objective of a collective bargaining agreement is to guarantee a fair and equitable labor relationship, ensuring the protection of workers’ rights and establishing a regulatory framework for harmonious working life.
Both employers and workers must comply with the provisions of the collective agreement, since it is binding on both parties and, in case of conflicts, can serve as the basis for resolving labor disputes.
